Stretching For Speed

Hey everyone!

I want to share another quick training tip with you, today. I want to share the importance of stretching! Stretching is a key element to becoming faster as a  martial artist.  The more flexible you are, the faster you’ll be able to move. And obviously, the least likely you’ll be to actually injure yourself. But if you want to move faster, well, just get looser so that your body doesn’t have to work as hard against itself.

I can remember when I was training for fighting consistently. Some tournaments, I’d only fight once while in other tournaments I’d have to fight 8, 9, 10 fights in a row. There are ways to condition yourself to keep your endurance high but the easiest way to make sure that you’re not working as hard physically is to just stretch and get yourself in a looser physical state. Again, this way your body doesn’t have to work so hard against itself.

Get faster by stretching more. Take 10 or 15 minutes per day to stretch. One of my instructors used to say stretch three times a day for five minutes that way you’re always loose, always ready to go!
